City Council Considers Water Rights Petition Authorization Ordinance

An ordinance that amends current city code pertaining to water rights was approved on first reading by the Sheridan City Council Monday night. City Attorney Brendon Kerns says ordinance 2264 amends Appendix B, Article 510 of City code.

Kerns said the City sometimes receives requests to consent to a water right change located outside the City’s limits.

Kerns said if an adjudication were to harm a City water right, then the petition would be forwarded to the governing body for a decision. The ordinance must be approved two more times before it takes effect.
