There is an exhibition featuring the work of 15 visual artists from Ucross’s roster of alumni. Curated by Ucross Fellow and arts writer Leah Ollman, the exhibition explores the concept of time — the gift offered to Ucross artists — and celebrates the residency program’s 40th anniversary.

Andrew Schneider, WyAA, Shawn Day, Sheridan City Councilman and bass player, and Sheridan Mayor Rich Bridge attended the reception

Attending the event on Wednesday was Andrew Schneider, Director of Operations at Wyoming Arts Alliance, (WyAA.) The WyAA is a statewide art service organization. Schneider said they work to support arts and culture in Wyoming communities. He added that when the National Endowment for the Arts started, there was no such statewide service organization. But in the 1970s and the 80s new arts non-profits began starting, and the Humanities came into being. Since that time, the WyAA has seen communities across Wyoming investing in themselves through the arts.

He commented on the connection between Wyoming and art which is a part of the Ucross experience. “Any time a person reads a book, see a dance performance or goes to a gallery showing in Park City or New York or Chicago, with these artists who have come through Ucross, these artists
