The extra water from Monday’s rain that caused some areas in Sheridan County to flood is receding back into nearby creeks.

Localized flooding particularly near the Big Goose and Little Goose Creeks occurred and emergency crews were helping by either trying to get rid of the water, blocking off sections of roads, or filling sandbags.

Sheridan County Emergency Management Coordinator Jessie Ludikhuize says this wasn’t as bad compared to the big flood of 2019, and many anticipated that some flooding might happen.

“We had made plans and notifications for this event and so we did have staff officials that were working including myself to continue to monitor the flooding situations and as it progressed we notified the appropriate people to make sure that hopefully people will continue to be safe.”

The weather forecast in Sheridan County from the National Weather Service in Billings, Montana calls for a 50% chance of precipitation or greater between Friday night and Tuesday night.
