Funeral services for Harvey Jarvis, 86 year old Buffalo resident who passed away Thursday at his home in Buffalo will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with Father Pete Johnson officiating.  Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with military graveside rites to immediately follow the funeral.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Donations in Harvey’s memory may be made to the St. Francis Animal Shelter in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.

Harvey Livingston Jarvis was born on July 9, 1935 in Syracuse, New York to Lawrence and Evelyn Jarvis. He grew up and went to school in Syracuse and attended Liverpool High School in Liverpool, New York.   Harvey joined the U.S. Navy in August of 1952 and served for 8 years, receiving an honorable discharge in August of 1960. He was married to Barbara Scherz and they were married for 20 years before divorcing.  Harvey was a UPS driver for 32 years in Syracuse and worked under Teamster’s Local 315. He retired from UPS in 1991 and moved to Buffalo, Wyoming.  Harvey continued living in Buffalo and did various odd jobs until his death.

Harvey had a great sense of humor and loved practical jokes and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by one daughter Pamela Kehr and her husband Tom of Buffalo; one son Mark Jarvis and his wife Darlene of Valdosta, Georgia; two grandchildren, Tyler Thompson and Jessica Jarvis and many, many friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Kelly Thompson, three brothers, Lawrence, Donald and Richard Jarvis and one sister Priscilla Steinbach.
