Conditions have recently improved to reduce the fire danger levels at Yellowstone National Park.

Thanks to an average of 2 inches of rain that fell in the park during the week of August 16th, park officials were able to lower the fire danger from very high, to high.

Stage 1 fire restrictions that were put in place back on July 1st, are no longer in effect.

Campfires are allowed within established fire rings in campgrounds and some back-country campsites.

They must always be attended and cold to the touch before abandoning.
