Pat BlairSheridan Memorial Hospital will seek a grant of just under $1.3 million from Wyoming’s State Loan and Investment Board for HVAC and electrical infrastructure on the hospital’s second and third floors.
Hospital trustees approved a resolution supporting the application for SLIB funds in a meeting earlier this week. Hospital CEO Mike McCafferty said the second and third floors were transitioned into additional patient rooms early in the pandemic.
He said the hospital is seeking the grant so the HVAC and electrical systems can be modified to provide better patient care.
Before the floors were converted into patient rooms, McCafferty said they provided office space for about 40 hospital employees. He said the staff have been moved to a number of locations around Sheridan.
While the hospital continues to receive admissions of COVID-19 patients, McCafferty said Sheridan hasn’t yet seen a surge in cases. But, he said, the hospital continues to be prepared and plan for worst-case scenarios.
