Aaron PalmerThe Board of Trustees for the Johnson County School District have voted to not go to a 4-day school week in Buffalo Schools, as recommended by the steering committee responsible for investigating the possibility.
During their meeting for April in Kaycee Monday night, the board heard the recommendations from committee spokesman Dr. Mike Hanson, Principal at New West High School.
Hanson said that during the last year, the committee had conducted interviews and taken surveys from parents and community members and compiled that information before making the recommendation to the school board.
He explained why the committee chose not to recommend the 4-day week for Buffalo schools.
Hanson said the committee had a written vote on the issue, and when the votes were counted, they had all voted against the 4-day week.
The school board voted to accept the recommendation from the committee to not have Buffalo schools go to a 4-day week.
The vote does not change the current 4-day week in Kaycee or New West High School, with those schools continuing on their current schedules, according to discussion at the meeting.
