The 2023-24 College Rodeo season started this past weekend at Chadron State.

For the Sheridan College men’s team, Joseph Priebe placed 5th in the saddle bronc riding, while Davis Otto was 6th in the bareback riding.

Wyatt Phelps, who was 4th at the College National Finals Rodeo back in June, was the only cowboy to ride for 8 seconds at Chadron, thus he ended up winning the event.

For the women’s team, Taylor McGregor and Sierra Hilgenkamp placed 7th and 9th respectively in the breakaway roping.

There are 10 rodeos total for the season, with 5 of them taking place in September and in October and the other 5 take place in March and April of next year.

Cowboys and cowgirls earn points based on where they finish at each rodeo and the top 3 in the standings of each event at the end of April, qualify for the CNFR.

This weekend (September 22nd thru the 24th), competition will take place at Central Wyoming College in Riverton.

The Pat Hamilton Memorial Rodeo hosted by Sheridan College is scheduled to take place next weekend, September 29 – October 1st, at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds.
