For the 4th year in a row the indoor track and field state championship trophy belongs to Sheridan, but this time, it’s the girls who are the state champs, for the first time in school history!
Addie Pendergast won the 200 and 400 meter dashes and was 2nd in the 800 meter run, Nora Butler and Josie Ankney placed 1st and 3rd in the shot put, the girls 4 x 400 meter relay team finished 1st (Olivia Hardesty, Callista Roush, Molly Elchlinger, and Averi Sullivan), Lilly Charest finished 2nd in the pole vault, both the 4 by 800 meter relay team (Abby Newton, Alexa Miller, Sullivan, and Fehlauer) and the 1600 sprint medley relay team (Roush, Elchlinger, Sullivan and Miller) finished 2nd and Alyssa Fehlauer placed 3rd in the 3200 meter run.
For the boys (3rd place finish), Patrick Aasby, and Aiden Roth finished 2nd and 3rd in the 400 meter dash, the 4 by 400 meter relay team (Aasby, Roth, Riley Green, Aiden O’Leary) and 1600 sprint medley relay team (Cael Gilbertson, Dominick Berretini, Cameron Perez, Robby Miller) each finished 2nd and Austin Akers finished 3rd in the 1600 meter run.
This was the first year, that the state indoor meet was split up into Class 4A and 3A.
Isaac Adsit of Big Horn finished 2nd in the 3A boys pole vault, to help the Rams to an 8th place finish. while the girls finished 15th.
Tongue River had competitors as well, but did not have a team score.
