Sheridan County HS Football: Sheridan County High School Football teams went 2-1 on the first Friday of September.
The Sheridan Broncs scored on their opening drive at Thunder Basin, then twice in a 2-minute span late in the 3rd quarter, and returned a punt for a score on their first play of the 4th quarter.
On 2 different occasions, the Bolts drove to the Sheridan 1-yard line, but the defense for the 3-time defending 4A State Champs kept the door closed, to preserve a 28-zip road win.
The Broncs were only up 7-nothing at halftime and Head Coach Jeff Mowry explains why that was.

The Broncs are now 2-0 on the 2024 season, and next play this coming Friday at Natrona.
Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 7pm.
Elsewhere in Sheridan County, Big Horn won at Lovell 28-24.
The Rams are at home this Friday to start 2A East Conference play vs. Wheatland, starting at 6pm.
Tongue River was shut out at Thermopolis 34-zip.
The Eagles also start 2A East Conference play this Friday at home vs. Burns, beginning at 2pm.
Sheridan County HS Volleyball: Sheridan went 4-2 this past weekend at the Gillette Invitational and placed 3rd in the silver bracket.
The Lady Broncs, beat Wright, lost against Kelly Walsh, defeated Rapid City St. Thomas More and Newcastle, lost against Wheatland and beat Natrona.
The team will play their 4A East conference and home opener this coming Friday and Saturday vs. Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central.
Big Horn went 2-4 at the Gillette Invitational and placed 3rd in the bronze bracket.
The Rams lost vs. Wheatland, Laramie and Riverton, beat Cheyenne Central, lost against Buffalo and beat Sundance.
The team is scheduled to host Pine Bluffs this Thursday as well as the Big Horn Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Tongue River went 3-0 with 2 ties at the Wind River Invitational in Pavillion.
The Lady Eagles, tied Saratoga, beat the host team and Big Piney, tied Shoshoni and beat Rocky Mountain.
The team is scheduled to play at the Big Horn Invitational this coming Friday and Saturday.
Arvada-Clearmont went 1-2 in their games played.
The Lady Panthers lost at home vs. Upton 3-zip on Friday.
Then on Saturday, they lost at Midwest 3-1, then went to Kaycee to play Rock River and won that match 3-2.
The team is scheduled to play this Friday and Saturday at the 1A Invitational at Saratoga and Encampment.
Sheridan County HS Golf: Sheridan hosted a 1-day meet back on Friday at the Powder Horn Golf Course.
This coming Wednesday and Thursday is the State Qualifying Meet, that will be played in Cheyenne.
Big Horn was at a 1-day meet at Wright, while Tongue River was at a 2-day competition at Thermopolis.
Easton Lewis of TR placed 2nd in the boys competition.
Both the TR and BH golf teams are scheduled to compete at a 2-day meet this Friday and Saturday at Lusk.
Sheridan HS Tennis: Sheridan swept the competition at home on Friday vs. Cheyenne South and on Saturday vs. Torrington.
This coming Saturday will be the conference and home finales as the Broncs and Lady Broncs take on both Thunder Basin and Campbell County.

Sheridan County HS Cross Country: All 3 Sheridan County teams ran at the Buffalo Invitational this past Friday.
Freshman Lyla Marney was 2nd in the girls race.
This Friday is the Big Horn Invitational that will take place at the Equestrian Center.
Sheridan is next scheduled to compete on Saturday at Bozeman, Montana.
Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks split road games at Great Falls to start the season.
The team won on Friday 4-3.
Vincent Leaf got the winning goal with about 8 ½ minutes remaining in the game.
On Saturday, the Hawks lost 3-1.
Leaf got the lone goal for the team.
Sheridan is next scheduled to play a 2-game home and home series vs. Gillette this coming weekend.
Friday’s game is at Gillette starting at 7:05pm.
Saturday is the home opener.
The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:30pm.
University Of Wyoming Football: The Wyoming Cowboys lost this past weekend at home vs. Idaho 17-13.
The Pokes outgained the Vandals yardage wise 270-225, although the opposition had 4 sacks compared to 1 for the Pokes.
Quarterback Evan Svoboda was 10 of 24 passing for 126 yards and 1 TD to Devin Boddie.
The Brown and Gold fumbled once in their own territory, and the opposition cashed in on it 7 plays later.
UW is now 0-2 on the season and the Cowboys are next scheduled to play this Saturday at home vs. BYU.
Kickoff in Laramie is scheduled for 7pm.
Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos lost their season opening game at Seattle yesterday 26-20 in the debut of rookie quarterback Bo Nix.
He was 26 of 42 passing for 138 yards and ran for Denver’s only touchdown of the game with a little more than 2 minutes to go, but he also threw 2 interceptions.
The Broncos running game didn’t do much better as 4 players combined for a total of 99 yards.
The kicking game and the defense did good in the first half.
Will Lutz booted 3 field goals, and the defense got an interception on the Seahawks’ opening drive and delivered 2 safeties.
Denver’s next game is their home opener this Sunday vs. Pittsburgh.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2:25pm.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won 2 out of 3 games this past weekend at Milwaukee.
On Friday, the Rocks won 3-2 as Michael Toglia’s 3-run blast in the 6th inning made the difference.
Colorado lost on Saturday 5-2.
Ryan McMahon and Sam Hilliard each hit solo shots for the cause.
Yesterday the Rockies won the rubber game of the series 4-1.
Hunter Goodman hit a solo home run and Hilliard later provided a 3-run blast.
The Rocks are off today and start a 3-game series tomorrow at Detroit.
