Sheridan HS Volleyball:
The seasons for Wyoming High School Golf and Tennis are already underway, and all other fall sports start this coming weekend.
That includes volleyball, and for Sheridan, the team has a monkey on their back that they need to get rid of.
The Lady Broncs haven’t played in the state tournament since 2016, thus none of the current players know what it’s like.
New Head Coach Daniel Torpey says her players are well aware of that fact and they’ve decided that just making it to the state tournament this year is not good enough.
Sheridan starts their season this weekend at the Cheyenne Invitational.
On Friday the team plays Rock Springs, Rawlins and Star Valley.
Saturday’s opponents are Green River and Kelly Walsh.
Coach Torpey says going up against various west teams will put her in a unique situation to go up against old coaches that she played for and against.
Big Horn/Tongue River/Arvada-Clearmont Volleyball: Defending 2A State Champ Big Horn will start their season at the Douglas Invitational.
On Friday, the Lady Rams play Wheatland, Alliance, Nebraska and Newcastle.
Saturday’s schedule is based off of Friday’s results.
Tongue River will play at the North Big Horn County Invitational at Rocky Mountain High School.
The Lady Eagles play on Friday vs. St. Stephens, Burlington and Greybull.
Saturday’s schedule is to be announced.
Arvada-Clearmont will play on Friday at the Dogger Invitational at Lingle-Ft. Laramie.
The Lady Panthers will take on the host team, as well as Hanna-Elk Mountain-Medicine Bow, Rock River and Lusk.
Sheridan County HS Golf: Sheridan is back in action tomorrow and Friday at a 2-day meet at Gillette.
Big Horn and Tongue River will play on Friday at a 1-day meet in Moorcroft.
Denver Broncos Keep Former UW Cowboy Frank Crum: All NFL teams had to cut their rosters down to 53 players by 2pm Mountain Time yesterday.
That included the Denver Broncos who decided to keep a former Wyoming Cowboy on the team for now.
Offensive tackle Frank Crum, who signed with the team as an undrafted free agent, remains on the roster.
Head Coach Sean Payton said he was pleased with how he played at the right tackle position in the last 2 pre-season games.
Crum graduated from Laramie High School in 2018 and played for the Cowboys for 5 seasons, earning All-Mountain West Conference honors 3 times, including first team all-conference honors last year.
The regular season for the Denver Broncos starts on Sunday, September 8th at Seattle.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies had an 8-4 lead last night at home vs. Miami heading into the 9th inning, and then the bullpen brokedown, gave up 5 runs and the team ended up losing 9-8.
Ezequiel Tovar hit a solo and a 2-run home run in the game, and Sam Hilliard had a solo blast himself.
Game 3 of the 4-game series is today starting at 6:40pm.
