Dane Steel Shows Wyoming High School Wrestlers Can Compete: This past weekend was the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Folkstyle Wrestling National Championship Tournament, held at Virginia Beach, Virginia.

A total of 9 Sheridan High School wrestlers competed in various grade levels and weight classes, with 2 of them finishing in the top 8, thus they earned All-American Status.

Junior Becca Oetken was one of them as she finished 5th in the girls 185 pound weight class.

The other was senior Dane Steel who was National Runner-Up in the Senior 160 pound weight class.

His loss in the championship match was his only loss throughout his senior season.

He says he had fun proving that Wyoming High School athletes can indeed wrestle.

Steel adds this past weekend was probably it as far as his wrestling career goes.

He is currently playing soccer this spring, and will play football next season at Montana State.

Sheridan HS Soccer: The Sheridan Broncs were without Steel and a few others this past weekend, and as a result of not being at full strength, the team got shutout on the road against Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central.

Head Coach Wade Kinsey says under the circumstances, the team did pretty good, and now that the wrestlers are back, it’s time to get things back to where they were.

Sheridan plays tomorrow against Campbell County.

The boys will play on the road and the girls at home.

Both teams will be at home on Saturday to take on Thunder Basin.

Sheridan HS Track and Field: Sheridan, Big Horn and Tongue River are all scheduled to compete this Friday at TR.

Sheridan is also scheduled to compete on Saturday at Billings.

Arvada-Clearmont is scheduled to compete on Friday at Upton.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies dropped a 3-2 decision at home last night vs. Arizona.

The 2 teams will play the rubber game of their 3 game series today starting at 1:10pm.

Tomorrow is an off day and then on Friday, the Rocks will start a 6-game road trip, starting with 3 at Toronto, followed by 3 at Philadelphia.

Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won last night at Utah 111-95.

With 3 games remaining in the regular season, Denver and Minnesota are tied for the #1 seed in the west, and Oklahoma City is 1 game behind both of them.

Tonight is a big night as the Nuggets play in their home finale against the Timberwolves.

Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won at home last night vs. Minnesota 5-2.

The Avs have 3 games remaining in the regular season and next play on Saturday at home vs. Winnipeg, which in all likelihood, will be their first round opponent in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, which start in about 1 ½ weeks.
