University of Wyoming Spring Football: Spring Football Practice continues this week at the University of Wyoming.

This past Saturday was the first practice that was open to the public at the Indoor Practice Facility.

After 6 practices so far, Head Coach Jay Sawvel says he’s already starting to get some idea as to what strengths this years’ team may have.

The Pokes are scheduled to have another public open practice this coming Saturday.

Details to be announced.

The Spring game will be played on Saturday, April 27th in Cheyenne.

Sheridan High School Soccer: Last week the Sheridan girls showed that once they get the momentum going in their favor, it’s hard for the opposition to stop them.

In last Thursday’s game vs. Cheyenne Central, the Lady Broncs scored 3 times in 1 minute and 34 seconds, and in last Friday’s game vs. Cheyenne East, they scored twice in 3 minutes.

Junior Avery McMullen says the team is starting to figure out what they can really do.

Sheridan plays Campbell County on Thursday.

The girls will be at home, while the boys are on the road.

On Saturday, it’s a home double-header vs. Thunder Basin.

Sheridan County HS Track and Field: Sheridan, Big Horn and Tongue River are scheduled to compete at the TR Invitational on Friday.

Sheridan will also go to Billings on Saturday.

Arvada-Clearmont is scheduled to compete on Friday at Upton.

Sheridan Lacrosse: The Sheridan Mavericks and Lady Mavericks traveled to northwest Montana to start their season and came back with a 3-1 record.

The boys won both of their games on Saturday at Great Falls, beating the host team 9-3 and Butte 14-4.

The girls split their games in Helena, losing to Bozeman 8-4, and won against Billings 9-8.

Both teams are on the road again this weekend for games.

The boys will play at Helena and the girls at Billings.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: Last night the Colorado Rockies won the first of a 3-game set at home vs. Arizona 7-5.

Ezequiel Tovar got the scoring started with a solo home run in the bottom of the 1st.

Arizona would score 4 in the top of the 4th to go up 4-1, but then the Rocks would score the next 6, capped off by a Charlie Blackmon solo shot in the 8th and then the bullpen was able to hang on from there.

The 2 teams play again today at 6:40pm.
