Sheridan Troopers Baseball: It’s April and that means it’s time to play ball in Wyoming.

The Sheridan Troopers American Legion Baseball Team will start their 2024 season this coming Saturday, with a home double-header vs. defending A-League State Champ Powell.

Head Coach Austin Cowen says this year’s schedule is loaded with tournaments, the first of which will take place at the Memorial Day weekend Wood Bat event at Gillette and then business will pick up in June.

This year’s AA State tournament is scheduled for July 29th through August 2nd at Casper.


Sheridan HS Soccer: Both the Sheridan boys and girls teams will be back in action this week, now that spring break is over with.

On Friday the teams play Cheyenne East, and on Saturday they play Cheyenne Central.

The boys games will be on the road, and the girls will play at home.


Sheridan County HS Track and Field: Big Horn and Arvada-Clearmont competed this past Friday at a meet in Buffalo.

Both teams are scheduled to compete at Glenrock on Friday.

The Rams and Lady Rams are also scheduled to go to Worland on Saturday.

Sheridan’s next scheduled meet is on Friday at Spearfish, South Dakota, while Tongue River competes on Saturday at Greybull.


University Of Wyoming Cowgirl Basketball: The Wyoming Cowgirls are in the quarter-finals of the WNIT.

Back on Friday, UW easily took care of South Dakota 84-52.

The Brown and Gold shot 54.7% for the game, and limited the opposition to 27.3%.

Five Cowgirls scored in double figures.

Allyson Fertig led the way with a double-double, 24 points and 11 rebounds, plus she was 11 of 14 shooting.

Marta Savic and McKinley Dickerson came off the bench to put in 14 and 12 points respectively.

Emily Mellema contributed 11 and Malene Pedersen added 10.

Wyoming hosts Minnesota in the quarter-finals tonight at 6:30 inside the Arena-Auditorium.

If the Cowgirls win, they’ll have a quick turn-around, because the semi-finals would be played on Wednesday, against the winner between Louisiana-Monroe and Troy.


Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies ended up losing 3 of 4 this past weekend at Arizona.

Thursday was an opening day record setting disaster as Colorado was crushed 16-1.

On Friday, they lost 7-3.

Elias Diaz hit a solo home run in that game.

On Saturday the Rockies won 9-4.

Ezequiel Tovar and Brenton Doyle each hit a 2-run shot.

Yesterday the Rocks lost 5-1.

The team begins a 3-game series this afternoon at the Chicago Cubs.

First pitch is scheduled for 12:20pm.


Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets split weekend games at home, losing on Friday vs. Minnesota 111-98 and then won last night against Cleveland 130-101.

The Nuggets have 7 games remaining on their regular season schedule and have clinched a playoff spot.

The next game is tomorrow at home vs. San Antonio.


Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won on Saturday at home vs. Nashville 7-4.

The Avs next play tonight at Columbus.
