Sheridan HS Soccer: Sheridan High School soccer teams saw a mixed bag of results this past weekend in their conference opening games.

On Friday, Kelten Crow scored a hat trick and the Broncs would annihilate Cheyenne South 9-1.

On Saturday, Sheridan scored 58 seconds into the game, but Laramie would get a penalty kick goal with a little less than 10 minutes to go, to forge a 2-2 tie.

On the girls side, the Lady Broncs won on Friday at Cheyenne South 1-nil, but lost on Saturday at Laramie 3-1.

Both the Sheridan boys and girls have no games scheduled this week, due to spring break.

The next games are on Friday and Saturday April 5th and 6th vs. Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central.

The boys will be on the road, and the girls at home.


Sheridan HS Outdoor Track and Field: The Sheridan boys placed 1st and the girls 4th at a meet in Broomfield, Colorado.

The next track and field meet is scheduled for this coming Friday at Buffalo.


University Of Wyoming Cowgirls Basketball: The Wyoming Cowgirls easily shook off nearly 2 weeks of rust and beat UT-San Antonio, 80-64 yesterday in the 2nd round of the WNIT.

UW was up 26-8 after 1 quarter, and shot 50% in the first half in terms of total field goals and 3’s, and got 29 points from the bench.

Malene Pedersen led all scorers with 24 points.

Allyson Fertig had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

McKinley Dickerson came off the bench to contribute 16.

The Cowgirls now have to play the waiting game again, to find out which team will be their third round opponent.

Northern Arizona plays at South Dakota tomorrow night, and Wyoming will play the winner of that game, which will probably be played either Thursday or Friday.

Elsewhere on the women’s side of the Mountain West Conference, UNLV was eliminated from the NCAA tournament on Saturday as the Lady Rebels lost vs. Creighton 87-73.


Mountain West Conference Men’s Basketball: Tne Mountain West Conference team has advanced to the Sweet 16.

Last night, San Diego State defeated Yale 85-57.

The Aztecs play Thursday at 5:39pm Mountain Time vs. top-seed UConn.

That game will be played in Boston.

Utah State was the other Mountain West Conference Team that made it to the Round of 32, but the Aggies were blown out yesterday by Purdue 106-67.

In the men’s NIT, UNLV moved onto the quarterfinals, thanks to a 79-70 win at home vs. Boston College last night.

The Rebels next play Wednesday at Seton Hall.


University of Wyoming Spring Football Practice: Spring practice for the Wyoming Cowboys starts tomorrow.

UW will have 15 practices, 2 of which will be open to the public on Saturday, April 6th and Saturday, April 13th.

Locations of those practices are to be announced.

It will all depend on weather and the renovation work that’s going on inside War Memorial Stadium.

The Spring game is scheduled for Saturday, April 27th at Cheyenne.


Colorado Rockies Pre-Season Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won 2 of their 3 games this past weekend.

On Friday, Colorado won at Texas 3-2.

Elias Diaz and Michael Toglia hit solo home runs for the cause.

On Saturday, the Rockies lost at Cincinnati 6-2.

Alan Trejo hit a 2-run shot in that game.

Yesterday, Colorado won at home vs. the Chicago White Sox 7-3.

Hunter Goodman hit a 3-run bomb, and Trevor Boone left the park on his own.

The Rocks next play today at Milwaukee beginning at 2:10pm.

The regular season starts this coming Thursday.


Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won on Saturday at Portland 114-111.

With 11 games remaining in the regular season the Nuggets lead the Northwest Division by ½ game.

The team begins a 5-game homestand tonight vs. Memphis.


Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won on Friday at home vs. Columbus 6-1, and won yesterday at home vs. Pittsburgh 5-4 in overtime, after trailing 4-0 in the 2nd period.

The Avs next play tomorrow at home vs. Montreal.
