The Kaycee K-12 school suffered a broken sprinkler system resulting is damage to 2 classrooms, and a problem with their boiler system that was discussed by the school board at their meeting Monday night.

Kaycee Principal Jake Evans explained to the board what happened with the sprinkler system last Thursday.

Evans said the same problem was found in three other classrooms, and it appears it has been an ongoing problem for quite a while.

He said six total classrooms were in jeopardy at the time.

The issue, according to discussions, is that the area where there was a break was engineered incorrectly and that is what led to the problem with the below-zero weather at the time.

Evans explained what needs to be done.

The board and officials from Kaycee School agreed to look into the issue further to figure out costs, availability of parts and a timeline for delivery, how to proceed with repairs, and a timeline for that.

In the meantime, the board agreed that Evans and administration at the school will monitor the situation and decide if and when there might be weather conditions that may require school cancellations moving forward.
