Buffalo Mayor Shane Schrader is nearing the end of his first year in office, and he sat down with Sheridan Media to reflect on his accomplishments, and what he feels he needs to continue improving upon.

Mayor Schrader said when he took office in January of 2019, he felt he had much to learn, and has over this first year.

He said keeping an open mind is the best asset to have sitting in the mayor’s office.

He talked about his most memorable issue during his first year.

Schrader said the crash course in state government included the proper way to get a note to a legislator on the floor, and how to utilize resources such as doormen or other connections to legislators.

He said he learned the processes quickly and will continue using that experience as needed in the future when attending legislative sessions.

Mayor Schrader also discussed, among other things, the upcoming budget session, 1% funding, and what he expects during his next three years in office.

We will have more on those discussions in upcoming stories.
