An increase in the funding amount the City of Sheridan is seeking for a project loan was an item of consideration for the Sheridan City Council at their most recent meeting. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

Airport Water Transmission Main Project

The Council approved a resolution authorizing a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Loan application for the Airport Water Transmission Main project. The amount the City will be applying for is $1.53 million. City Utilities Director Dan Roberts said the City is applying for a larger amount because SAWS learned that they are not eligible for a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Loan for this particular project. SAWS and the City previously agreed to a 50/50 cost share of the project.

The water transmission main that will be replaced as part of the project connects an existing water supply pipeline in the eastern end of the Big Goose Valley to major service areas around the airport, the State Girl’s School, the entire Little Goose Valley, the Big Horn area, Sheridan College, and southeastern Sheridan. The water transmission main is the sole source of supply to some of these service areas and is a key transmission main for both the SAWS and the City of Sheridan water systems.
