Senator Crago Points to Legislation Local Governments to be Aware of
State Senator Barry Crago (R-SD22), in his recent talk with the Buffalo City Council, detailed some proposed legislation that local governments should keep an eye on as they move through the legislature.
Crago said HB0022 would set up a recall for municipal officers; HB0058 would require a mill levy vote for Rec Districts, instead of leaving it to local school districts and require a vote every four years.
He said on a positive note, SF0032 will allocate additional funding for local 9-1-1 systems; and SF0045, the simulcasting local approval bill, giving authority back to local governments on gaming.
He added that there seems to be a belief with some legislators that local decisions and control should be handled in Cheyenne, which he does not agree with.
Crago said he will be fighting trying to keep as much control as possible at the local level.
