Superintendent Finalists Attend Public Forum, Part 3

This is the third and last installment of the SCSD#2 Superintendent finalists community forum held on February 4 with district staff, students, parents and community members.

The four finalists are Rebecca Adsit; Chase Christensen; Scott Cleland and Jennifer Strong.

This forum was also live streamed, and members of the public are encouraged to submit questions and comments about the finalists.

In the last story, we heard how the candidates answered the next two questions, concerning literacy in the school and school funding. The fourth question that Moderator Mitch Craft asked was

Rebecca Adsit felt that they couldn’t keep doing things the same old way.

Jennifer Strong had this response

Every day we do what is best for our kids, she added.

Cleland said they did not want to lower exceptions for teachers or students.

Chase Christensen said he had been talking to teachers and felt there were steps the administration could take to make their jobs easier.

After the last question, the candidates had two minutes to make a closing statement about what they would do if chosen for the position.

Scott Cleland said in his closing statement,

He said that our greatest challenge is ensuring that our youth find a future here in Sheridan.

Chase Christensen felt that the partnership between Sheridan schools and Sheridan College was valuable for students and their families.

Rebecca Adsit thanked the community members for attending, and said she believes in education, and believes in the difference a teacher can make in a student’s life.

Jennifer Strong talked about building relationships

The board will make a decision based on the interviews and the results of Wednesday night’s community forum. They will announce their decision soon.
