Published

Repertory Dance Theatre has returned to Sheridan and to the WYO Theater with “Excursions,” a program featuring a range of contemporary and modern dance works that highlight the company’s versatility, athleticism and artistic depth. The performance will showcase pieces that span bold contemporary choreography and elegant modern classics, offering audiences a broad look at the company’s repertoire.

In addition to the performance, Repertory Dance Theatre will take part in several outreach classes and workshops with community organizations. While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, WYO Theater Executive Director Erin Butler said the return of Repertory Dance Theatre to the WYO stage is exciting but she really appreciates the dance company’s dedication to reach out to the community.

According to Butler, the Repertory Dance Theatre members have visited Meadowlark Elementary School, Easterseals Wyoming, Wyoming Girls School, WYO PLAY Creative Aging Class, Merit Arts Company, Donna’s Dance Academy and Sheridan College.

According to the WYO, Utah’s Repertory Dance Theatre was founded in 1966 and is a fully professional modern dance company created through a cooperative effort between the Salt Lake City community, the University of Utah and a major grant from the Rockefeller Foundation. The company was established to help preserve and advance the uniquely American art form of modern dance.
