Sheridan County Man Changes Plea in District Court
A Sheridan County man changed his plea on a felony charge this week in Fourth Judicial District Court. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Pursuant to a plea agreement reached between the defendant and the State, 33-year-old Nolan Aikman pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the third degree. The criminal conduct occurred between June 2024 and August 2025 when Aikman was 31 years of age and the victim was 14. The nonbinding plea agreement recommends a prison sentence of 2 ½ to 5 years in prison, suspended in lieu of three years of supervised probation.
Since the agreement is nonbinding, the Court can reject the plea deal altogether at sentencing and impose a different sentence and Aikman would be unable to withdraw his guilty plea. District Court Judge Darci Phillips ordered that a presentence investigation report be completed by the Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole and scheduled the sentencing hearing for Thursday, May 14 at 9 am. Aikman’s bond was continued under the same terms and conditions that were previously set in Sheridan County Circuit Court, with the added condition that he report to Probation and Parole to inform them of his guilty plea so that they can move forward with the presentence investigation report.
