Children typically begin learning to read around ages 6 or 7, usually first or second grade. However, some children may start earlier, around 4 or 5 years old, while others may begin later.
Reading readiness is a term that refers to the point when a child is developmentally ready to start reading. Shockley said watching children read along with Wonder Books has been inspiring. She notices interest and engagement with the words.
For parents who wish to check out a variety of books to keep the little ones interested and engaged, the Early Reader Pack may be the best choice. These packs offer parents and guardians a few different books to choose from in easy to carry bags.

A study from Ohio State University has shown that young children whose parents read to them daily have been exposed to at least 290,000 more words by the time they enter kindergarten than kids who are not read to regularly.
