Sheridan Commission Approves MOU With County Clerk

Published

on

Sheridan County’s Commissioners, during their last regular meeting, considered accepting a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with County Clerk Eda Schunk Thompson outlining duties and responsibilities of each entity.

Schunk-Thompson had asked for some duties to be restored to her office and the MOU was drafted in response to a disagreement on which duties the clerk’s office was responsible for.

Commissioner Christi Haswell, who was part of the negotiations between the county, the clerk, and their legal teams, expressed her satisfaction with the negotiations and the outcome.

The commission voted to approve and accept the MOU.

The commissioners were caught “red-handed” stealing some of the Clerk’s duties and now have agreed to give some of them back.
Why do we always have to take the commissioners to court to get them to follow the law? Didn’t they swear an Oath to follow the law and abide by the Constitution?
Maybe it’s time for some new commissioners?
And those that resign before the judge rules.. may be able to keep some of their dignity.

The Commissioners were not taken to court over the duties of the Clerk. Nice try on starting that whopper, Mr. Fox.

No, taking the commissioners to court, for the Theft of the Clerk’s Rightful duties, was the next step. Looks like our commissioners are getting smarter.
We the people are Always watching.
Better to Resign with some honor,
Than to be Removed…and have None.
    Clocks Ticking though.
