Aaron PalmerDuring this week’s regular meeting the Sheridan County Commission voted to not send a Letter of Support for funding to the Wyoming Water Development Commission on the City of Sheridan’s Northeast Transmission Water Main Extension Project.
Commissioner Christi Haswell spoke in favor of the project and the Letter of Support while Commissioner Lonnie Wright spoke against.
A number of members of the public spoke against, concerned with increased water demand if the area is developed; the city’s lack of a need of support from the county for the funding; the fate of the Sheridan Area Water Supply (SAWS) system; and the timing of getting funding now when there are repairs needed to the existing systems, among other concerns.
Commission Chair Nick Siddle spoke before the vote.
The commission voted to not send a Letter of Support on a split vote.
