Aaron PalmerDuring their recent meeting, the Johnson County School Board heard an update from Superintendent Charles Auzqui on the new BOCHES (Board of Cooperative Higher Educational Services) Committee which is preparing for the dissolution of Sheridan and Gillette Colleges.
Auzqui explained the latest information presented to him.
The Johnson County School Board, back in 2022, voted to accept a new agreement forming a new BOCHES Board.
The new agreement is necessary to prepare for Gillette College breaking away from the Northern Wyoming Community College District along with the Gillette school district.
The agreement creates a new BOCHES between Sheridan College, Sheridan County School Distirct #1, and Johnson County School District #1 to be known as Sheridan/Johnson Board of Cooperative Higher Educational Services.
The purpose of BOCHES and the agreement is for the three entities to work together to provide educational services, including but not limited to post-secondary educational services, vocational-technical education, adult education, and services for children with disabilities.
