Two men in Campbell County are dead in a case that investigators are calling a murder-suicide and possible arson.
The Campbell County Sheriff Office says at around 11am this past Friday (May 19th), deputies, firefighters and EMS personnel responded to a fifth-wheel camper fire on Midland Road, which is north of the Gillette city limits.
When they arrived on scene crews found one man on the ground outside the trailer and then later found another inside.
The first was identified as Patrick Mahoney and a corner from Rapid City, South Dakota recently said he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The other was Steven Hague who had suffered a gunshot wound, that entered his upper left shoulder and the bullet traveled down his body to his heart.
Mahoney was Hague’s employee and was living on Hague’s property.
Investigators say the two had a landlord-tenant and employer-employee relationship and the weapon that is believed to have been used has been found.
The case is still under investigation and it has not been determined how the fire started.
