At their meeting Monday night in Kaycee, the Johnson County School District Board of Trustees approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the school district and the Powder River Conservation District (PRCD) concerning the proposed Kaycee Community Orchard.

Anita Bartlett, with the PRCD, gave a short presentation to the school board at the meeting, detailing the project and answering questions from the board.

Bartlett said it will be a joint project between the school district, PRCD, and the Kaycee community, with most of the construction and upkeep being done by the PRCD with some help from the other entities.

The project will provide fresh produce for the Kaycee community from the various fruit and nut trees that will be planted there over the next three years.

The PRCD will move ahead with the project this year.
