Although the rainy weather and other factors led to the 3rd Motorcycle rally in Leiter having a lower attendance, a good time was enjoyed by all.

Bob Simpson along with Jamey Gilkey, of OMG Motorcycle in Sheridan, started the rally in 2019, Bob talks about how the rally came to be.

Last year the rally drew over 100 people. Melaine Klier, owner of the Leiter Bar and Cafe, estimated around 150 on Saturday of 2020. However, as Simpson said, the weather forecast this year was so up and down that many riders didn’t come due to the weather.

“We had about 60 riders this year. And we had one band, 100-Proof from Billings, cancel due to illness of the lead singer. The Terry Waugh Band is awesome, and played longer then they had planned.”

There were 35 riders on Art Perez Memorial poker run and the riders went from Leiter, to the Ranch at Ucross; the No-Name Bar in Sheridan; the Last Chance Bar in Big Horn; Wagon Box in Story; Cowboy Bar in Buffalo, and back to Leiter via 14-16. “It was a beautiful ride,” Simpson said. Next year, there will be name change to the run. Simpson said about the new name:

The money raised will still benefit the Advocacy and Resource Center in Sheridan, and this year the run raised $1,110 for the Center. The winner this year was Michelle Terry.

Simpson said they are looking forward to next year, and have booked Leiter again for the last weekend in June. “I wanted something local people could depend on being at the same time each year.”

“I’d like to thank Melaine and Steve Klier for their hospitality here at Leiter; J. Allen Logan from the Broken Spoke; Shane Nunn, who did the artwork for the logo; Sabrina McBride and ABC Signs for the logo they designed with his artwork; the Terry Waugh Band, and all those who helped make the 2021 rally a success.”

Melaine Klier wants to thank all who helped her at the Leiter Bar and Cafe for helping with the rally.
