Please read about the damage done to the states that legalized marijuana. The influx of unemployed, homeless people looking for “affordable” marijuana (if there is such a thing); the natural transition of marijuana users to even more deadly drugs (meth, cocaine, etc.) by those who start with marijuana; the danger to the youth who use marijuana that is much stronger than what started out in the 1960s; and the increase in crime and additional burden on law enforcement are only some of the costs to state that legalize marijuana. People in businesses or public offices (eg library, city offices) may very well need to be adept at administering narcan to those who overdose. That is a frequent responsibility for the library staff in Denver, CO where the homeless get inside to stay warm and then overdose. Further, pot shops in all our towns will drive away many of the tourists who travel to this fine state
The increase in income to the government and marijuana businesses that start up in the state is not a good trade for the decline in lifestyle we have all come to take for granted. Finding people willing to work will become even more difficult if marijuana is legalized. I, for one, would not want someone who is using pot driving, working equipment, even doing office work. I guess that’s a good thing because many who regularly use marijuana aren’t particularly interested in working anyway.
Don’t give up our wonderful life in Wyoming and go the way of sorry states like Colorado, Washington, California. Many have moved here from those states to get away from their lifestyles — We really do not want to Wyoming into another Colorado!
Absolutely marijuana should be legalized – it’s a plant that occurs naturally on our wonderful planet. Making nature “illegal ” seems a bit irrational and quite honestly, dense. The benefits and applications of it are endless and far out weigh any and all negatives, if there are any negatives at all. Let’s compare it to alcohol and make a chart based on legitimate facts and figures for all the issues, deaths, and horrific events that either are the root cause of as well as the benefits-seriously. Alcohol has killed more people through a plethora of means than marijuana
Does the government have the authority to control what you do and do not put in your own body? That is the real question here. By supporting the drug war you are simply supporting one drug cartel over another. And if you think that the government can tell you what you can do with your body, that government can also force you to get a vaccine, drink fluoridated water, ban you from drinking soda or alcohol, ban you from eating cheese burgers, ban you from using insulin if you are diabetic, or forcibly sterilize you.
I think we should just respect the individual liberty of all American citizens and not let the ignorance of politicians and greed of businesses threaten those liberties.
