cvannoyThe 27th annual Sheridan’s Christmas stroll was held on Friday, November 25, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The all-day Christmas stroll is in it’s second year, before Covid the stroll was held in the evening. Robby Smith of the Chamber of Commerce Christmas stroll committee talked about why they decided to do it all day.
Smith has been retired for about a year and a half, she ran Sheridan Stationary Book Store for many years, and said this was the first time she got to do the ‘get caught shopping’ at the Christmas stroll. She added that the chamber completely sold out of the 2750 stroll buttons this year, and profits are used to put up more Christmas decorations on Sheridan’s Main Street.
Teresa Detimore, Program Development Director at the Chamber, talked about the 2022 stroll.
Santa arrived by fire truck and was at the WYO twice during the stroll, from 11:30 to 1:00 and again from 4:30 to 7:30. Elaine Schaffer, WYO Box Office, said that Santa was taking a break between 1 and 4:30 because it had been ‘steady’ for the past hour and a half.
She said the ‘weather is perfect,’ and she felt that having the stroll all day was a good idea.
Bobbi Mitzel of the Chamber added this about the stroll this year.
Set up on Main Street was a table where strollers could sign Christmas Cards for veterans. Carrie Morrell and Marcee Staudinger were at the table, and the signed cards will be delivered to the Sheridan VA. Morrell said they also take donations to purchase gifts for veterans, and they are asking for donations of winter clothes as well. Morrell said that the signed cards program was well-received at the VA. She added this as well.
Hanna K. Ehrmantraut, at the Bozeman Trail Gallery, talked about the stroll and the gallery, which was started by her father, William L. King, who collects fine western art and collectibles. She has been working at the Gallery for 23 years, and she said her father first had the gallery above Wagners.
She talked about how the gallery came to be, saying her father and mother started collecting art and artifacts and it snowballed into the Bozeman Trail Gallery. Ehrmantraut also said they have a lot of artworks from traditional Western artists, but also quite a bit from contemporary artists and local Wyoming artists. Today the gallery adjoins the King Ropes Store.
She added about this year’s stroll
There were many window decorations along main street, and many of the organizations and business owners commented on the warm weather that brought out many shoppers to enjoy the stroll.
