cvannoyThe Clearmont Historical Group discussed several projects for the Group at the July 18 meeting.
The group is looking into putting a different heating system in the Clearmont Historical Center, which would heat the back room museum area as well as the front room. The Center currently has a 200 gallon propane tank on loan from Robert Prusack, but to heat the entire building would require a larger propane tank, so the group is looking into what the cost would be for a 1000 gallon tank and a new heating system. They will be looking into a grant to pay for the improvements.
Ira Roadifer and Robert Prusack reported that the roofing project on the center has been postponed until the weather gets cooler.
Roadifer also said that the Passaic book is being edited by Leland Sanders and will be published by Sander’s publisher who brought out Leiters to Littles, History of the Clear Creek Valley Area, and Ucross, Where the Creeks Converge and the Routes Diverge.
He also gave and update on the Powder River Tours.
Roadifer also reported that the Center is hosting Thirsty Thursday in July, with homemade root beer, and possibly ice cream for floats. Everyone is invited to the Center on Thursdays from 2-4.
At Thirsty Thursdays, participants can purchase a $1.00 ticket and have a chance at a seat on the August 20 Powder River Tour. There will be another tour in September, the fall colors tour. Contact the Center at 307-758-4685 or Ira at 758-4625.
Sandy Hinz reported on a workshop she had attended on archiving and digitizing the collections in the Historic Center. “It’s a lot of work,” she said.
As a fund raiser for the group, there is a raffle, and the winner will receive artwork from either Stacy Ellenwood Moose Photo: Sally LeBorn, Longhorn Painting, and who is also artist of the month; and Kathy Crump, watercolor of aspen trees. Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $20. Loyce Ellingrod is the person of the month for July.
Winners for the raffle will be drawn at the December meeting.
