Morning Sports: August 25, 2026

Sheridan HS Football: For years the Sheridan High School Football team has been able to put the special into special teams, although lately opponents have started to wise up in that category.

Last year the Broncs only scored 3 touchdowns on kickoff and punt returns combined, whereas they had 8 the year before, and 7 the year before that.

Head Coach Jeff Mowry says a lot of opponents last year avoided kicking the ball to Sheridan’s main return men, or have kicked the ball out of bounds so that a big return could not happen.

The Broncs start the season this coming Friday at Rock Springs.

Sheridan HS Tennis: The Sheridan boys are in an unfamiliar spot this season, but so far they’ve been able to answer the challenge.

Last year was only the 3rd time in school history, and the first since 1985, that the Broncs were crowned as state champs, and so far, the team is 5-0 in duals this season.

Head Coach Scott Dickey says opponents are coming after the boys this season, but there’s enough experience returning to handle it.

Sheridan is scheduled to play on Friday at Jackson and on Saturday at both Powell and Cody.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost the first game of a 4-game series yesterday at Washington 13-3.

Willi Castro and Ezequiel Tovar each hit solo home runs to give the Rocks a 2-nothing lead, but then things fell apart from inning 5 onward.

Colorado has now lost 7 straight and will try to snap that streak today.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:45pm.
