Civics 307 President Discusses Senate File 100 and ‘Check-Gate’
Civics 307 is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization that encourages civic education and participation. Sheridan County resident and Civics 307 President Gail Symons is in Cheyenne for the Wyoming Legislative Budget Session. Symons said that Senate File 100, which pertains to the Wyoming Business Council, was addressed Monday in committee.
At the end of the first day of the session on Monday, February 9, Teton County Republican Party State Committeewoman Rebecca Bextel was photographed handing a check to Republican Representative Darin McCann of Rock Springs on the House Floor. The check was one of 10 that were intended to be given to other Republican legislators and former State Representative Mark Jennings of Sheridan, who recently announced his candidacy for House District 30. The checks were campaign donations from Jackson resident Don Grasso. Symons weighed-in on what is being referred to at the State Capitol as Check-Gate.
A House Committee has been formed to look into the matter and the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating allegations of possible bribery.
