SCSD#2 Board Honors Trustees; Hands Off Drugs Program
At the SCSD#2 board meeting on February 9, the board voted unanimously to offer the position of superintendent to Rebecca Adsit, and that story has been posted on Sheridanmedia.com
Current superintendent Scott Stults presented two Trustee awards, one to Board Vice-Chairman Arin Waddell and one to Board Chairman Shane Rader.

Stults also honored Raili Emery, of Sheridan Junior High School, for her ‘Hands off Drugs’ program, which is now in its 25th year.
Stults added that they are going to choose not to partake in that because of the harm it presents to them as they progress through their adolescence. This is a reminder to think before they act and make positive choices. Anytime we can have adults that help our kids make great choices, particularly in this case with drugs, so much the better.
“I truly appreciate the opportunity we get to celebrate 25 years of Hands-Off Drugs,” Stults said.
Emery was asked if any of the handprints had been painted over, and she said only if they have concrete proof that a youngster broke their pledge. Otherwise, all handprints are still on the wall. “We still have a lot of wall in that building,” she added.

She thanked the community for their support of the program, especially the police, fire department, EMTs and sheriff’s office that come in and help the kids paint their hands and make the print on the wall.
Trustee Doug Moore, who joined the meeting virtually, said, “I want to thank the board and Mr. Stults for including this in our recognitions.
“Thank you, Miss Emery, for your participation in this,” Moore added.
He also asked her to repeat the pledge, so the board members are aware of the pledge that the students take. Those who wanted to repeated the pledge as well.
In other business, the board voted to approve several policies on first and second readings, approved the K-5 and 6-8 student handbooks, heard a 2025 graduation report from Kristie Garriffa, and approved the audit firm of Carver, Florek & James, CPA’s for the school’s audit.
Facilities Director Troy Decker spoke to the board about several maintenance projects that need to be completed. He said that the staff housing duplex at the Bridges property west of town is in need exterior repairs, the concrete at the high school needs rehabilitation, and the Woodland Park Panel replacement project. The board voted to approve the expenditures of the maintenance projects.

In the board reports, Rader reminded those attending of the upcoming Legislative Conversations coming up on Tuesday, February 10 at 6 p.m. in the Commons room at Sheridan Junior High School.
All are welcome to attend the conversation to learn more about bills that are being discussed that will affect education in Wyoming.
The board then recessed to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters.
