Buffalo Man Killed In One Vehicle Rollover In Eastern Johnson County

A Buffalo man is dead after being involved in a one vehicle rollover while travelling in Eastern Johnson County.

According to a preliminary Wyoming Highway Patrol fatality crash summary (click here), just before 7:30pm on Friday, January 30th, 56-year old Everett Van Meter was driving his vehicle eastbound on I-90.

As he was taking the off ramp to the Powder River Rest Area, his vehicle went off the road to the right and entered a ditch.

Van Meter steered back to the left and ended up sliding his vehicle across the off-ramp entering a gore.

The vehicle tripped and rolled ¼ times uphill, eventually coming to a rest on its passenger side.

During the roll, Van Meter, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected from the front passenger window.

He did not survive his injuries.

Road conditions at the time were dry and skies were clear.

The Patrol did not list any contributing factors in the summary related to the incident.

At the time, it was the 7th fatality on Wyoming Highways so far this year, compared to 5 at this time one year ago.
