State Representative Marilyn Connolly (HD40) recently came before the Buffalo City Council to talk about the upcoming legislative session that begins February 9 in Cheyenne.

She said she expects this session to be “interesting,” but hopes lawmakers can mostly concentrate on the budget.

Connolly highlighted legislation that would be pertinent or that would affect local city and county governments, and we will have that in an upcoming story

We commend her efforts to include more veterans in the property tax exemption. It is currently a “Veteran of Foreign wars (VFW only)” type exemption, that excludes many worthy vets. Any vet who is honorably retired should be allowed to claim the veterans tax exemption.
20 years of honorable service, especially in combat arms, should qualify, regardless of location.
Active, Guard or Reserve doesn’t matter, it’s all military service and is worthy of honoring with a tax cut.
