Sheridan Police Department Chief Travis Koltiska made what will be the department’s last appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse for the 2024 year and used the opportunity to thank the community for their support and give a message on the future of the SPD.
Twenty-twenty four started out as another typical year for the department. But on Feb. 13, Sergeant Nevada Krinkee was killed in the line of duty. While dealing with his own grief, Chief Koltiska led the SPD through the darkest hour in the history of the department.
The Chief said the support from residents of Sheridan and many others was greatly appreciated and helped many in the department during a difficult time. Koltiska wished to thank the community for taking time to acknowledge the brave men and women of the SPD while remembering one of Sheridan’s finest.

The SPD made many appearances on Public Pulse throughout the year to speak on the hiring process at the station. Although in a recruiting push, the SPD leadership has refined a strict and rigorous hiring process. City Administrator Stuart McRae acknowledged the Department’s hiring of officers with high character that adapt well to the culture and people of Sheridan has strengthened the SPD even as department’s across the nation suffer from a candidate shortage.
To conclude the Sheridan Police Department’s appearances on Public Pulse for the 2024 year, Koltiska was asked if he had a message for the community.
