Hunters Can Apply for Preference Points Through Oct. 31
Resident and nonresident hunters can apply for Wyoming Game and Fish Department preference points now through Oct. 31.
Preference points can improve a hunter’s odds of drawing tags for select species and areas. Residents and nonresidents can apply for moose and bighorn sheep points, while nonresidents may also acquire elk, deer and antelope points. All applications must be submitted online at the Game and Fish website.
“Preference points can help increase odds of drawing some species and hunt areas,” said Josh Moulton, Game and Fish license section manager. “Drawing odds for all species and hunt areas are available on the Game and Fish website.”
Residents who are unsuccessful in moose or bighorn sheep drawings automatically receive a point. Nonresidents who do not draw can choose to purchase a point. Hunters who fail to purchase a point for two consecutive years will forfeit all accumulated points for that species.
Hunters can check their current point balance online. Totals for the 2025 hunting season will be updated in late November. More information, including a full FAQ, is available on the Game and Fish preference points page.
