Barrasso Bill Keeps Sheep and Goat Import Ban

U.S. Senator John Barrasso recently introduced legislation to stop the Biden administration from lifting a ban on imports of sheep and goat products until accurate studies show the possibility of contamination or transmission of diseases have been completely eliminated. In 2022, the United States Department of Agriculture implemented a final rule to remove BSE-related import restrictions on sheep and goats and their products. Barrasso’s bill, the Stop and Study Sheep and Goat Import Ban will stop this rule from taking effect and require updated, thorough research before exposing the sheep and goat industry, and ultimately U.S. consumers, to possible contaminations.
Senator Barrasso said imported sheep and goats are at a higher risk of being contaminated or diseased and it’s critical that we keep the ban in place until it can be proven they are free of any possible diseases or contamination. The bill has received support from Wyoming Wool Growers and the American Sheep Industry Association.

America is being invaded across our southern border which has been given over to the control of drug cartels. Children are being brought illegally into the USA as drug “mules” and many are sold into the sex trade. The price of food and other necessities has skyrocketed thanks to Biden’s inflation and the world looks at us as a joke. And THIS is how our “senators” spend their time? THIS is what they focus their legislative efforts on? Disgrace!

I tried raising sheep and goats. I couldn’t make money when the coyotes were eating the lambs and kids, because the gov. stopped controlling coyotes and let them take over. BTW, the wildlife has never recovered from the losses of their baby animals either. Back then, there was an import tax on wool. The money was used to pay our own sheep ranchers 10 bucks a head for their wool. I’ve been told that the 10 bucks was the profit because sheepshearers charged as much as the wool sold for. I know that was a fact, from experience. Then along came the Clinton gang. Their goal was to destroy the American wool business. I saw VP Al Gore on TV lie about where that 10 bucks was coming from. His main lie was that the US taxpayers were footing the bill. So, the Dems in charge imported wool from other countries, duty free, and put most sheep ranchers out of business. Many changed to cattle. Of course more baby calves on the market made beef prices drop and that hurt the cattle ranchers too.
I agree that the Democrat’s open border is a big problem, and only Trump will finish the wall. I don’t blame the invaders who are flooding the country, because Biden invited them, but we can’t be the babysitter for the whole world. Ever since the Biden/Democrat takeover, this country has been having serious problems. I just hope we can survive.
