DSA shifted focus to supporting downtown businesses affected by construction

Downtown Sheridan Association Board President Kristin Herbst stopped by Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss the Sheridan Main Street resurfacing and utilities project and the postponing of the Farmer’s Market. 

The decision to postpone the Farmer’s Market was met with disappointment by much of the Sheridan community. At the beginning of the large project to upgrade Main Street, the DSA was chosen to be the connection for local businesses to WYDOT. Once the project began, the choice to hold or postpone the market came down to manpower and time. It was ultimately decided the DSA needed to refocus its efforts on the businesses downtown, according to Herbst.

Herbst said next year, the DSA will reevaluate the situation and, depending on the amount of time and manpower the DSA has at that time, refocus efforts. Ultimately, the DSA intends to be the driving force behind the Farmer’s Market at the conclusion of the Main Street project.  But for now, the downtown businesses will remain the focus of the DSA.
