Aaron PalmerSheridan County’s Airport Manager Robert Gill, speaking during the recent county commission meeting, brought a second application for federal funding for a different portion of the Sheridan County Airport’s 2024 Realignment of Taxiway Alpha Construction Project, which includes an expansion of the General Aviation Apron at the county airport.
He explained further.
Sheridan County’s Commissioners, earlier in the meeting, approved a federal funding application for the Sheridan County Airport’s 2024 Realignment of Taxiway Alpha Construction Project.
The total amount requested through the grant application is $5,987,935 which covers 95% of the project. Additionally, the Wyoming State Aeronautics Division and the county will each provide a matching contribution of $157,577.
The General Aviation Apron project is a part of the total of nearly $6 million in requested funding for both the taxiway alignment and apron expansion projects.
The commission voted to approve the grant application, with Commissioner Holly Jennings voting against the apron expansion project, again concerned over federal requirements in the application that will be binding to the county.
