Library Has Funds to Replace Windows

A campaign to raise nearly $4 million for renovations of the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library hasn’t yet gone into public fund-raising efforts, but the good news, according to Library Director Cameron Duff, is that money is in hand to replace library windows.

The cost of that, Duff said, is about $80,000, and the work has to be done by June 30 of this year. He said those funds have been secured, including a $25,000 grant from the state of Wyoming. The one catch, Duff said, is that the library won’t receive the funds from the state until the project is complete. But, he added, the library foundation has guaranteed the upfront funds needed for the work.

Of the remaining funds needed, Duff said nearly $1.9 million has been pledged, although that money will be received over the next four or five years. Duff said the total campaign funds in the bank at this time is only around $200,000.

The major item in the library’s capital campaign program is replacement of the library roof – at an estimated cost of over $1 million.

He said the library at this time is still seeking grants from foundations rather than going to the public for donations.
