Buffalo Council Awards Contract for Mural

A contract for a mural to be painted on the exterior of Buffalo’s City Hall was accepted and approved by the city council during their meeting Tuesday.
The contract was awarded to Summit Home & Design, LLC of Buffalo.
According to discussions by the council, the mural project will be replacing the redesign of the ice rink in Washington Park that was earmarked by HGTV Network for the public space portion of their upcoming television show that will feature
Buffalo as one city for their revitalization projects in six communities nationwide.
The ice rink redesign was not possible, according to Mayor Shane Schrader, who said supply chain issues meant materials for the ice rink revitalization could not be acquired in a timely manner, as needed by the network’s filming schedule.
There will be no cost to the city for the mural.
Work on the mural is expected to begin and be completed this month, weather permitting, according to he council.
