It was very obvious there was a deal in place a year ago when they had to “FIX” the asbestos, so the Locomotive could be moved….. That was the first step. When (And it WILL be moved) it will be moved to a place where the viewing will be blocked by houses when you are coming west off the interstate. A substandard location with no curb and gutter and the cost of $300,000.00 just for moving, then the city will have to build a park like setting (Like where it currently sits) at more taxpayer expense. The spin the city council will put on the move will be that they are trading one lot, for two (Even though the true value between the swap is greatly different) Small town politics at it’s best, brokered by a California Businessman, who saw the opportunity to enhance his holding in the form of concrete parking lot, and the stupidity of an inept city council.

I agree with Mitch and his ADULT language. We The People are not listened to by the Mayor and City Council. Nothing new, remember the beautiful 110 year old house by the library that they bulldozed and hauled to the dump, just to please Lisz Cassidy of the YMCA and Terry Cram of the county? We are living in a socialist country now people. BTW, they moved the beautifully restored street car from the Museum to the old sale barn area to rot, because it needed the roofing patched. Now it is getting vandalized.

I have NO problem with the truth. But if you would take the time to actually read my posts, instead of assuming, you might realize my only objection, was the 3rd grade language. As to your language, “bleeding heart” if that is a person who cares about common courtesy and a CIVIL discussion then I gladly accept that label.

I would like to see it moved to the south lawn at the Sheridan Inn because,They go hand in hand.Make enough room and place the Trolly car in the same area.You will have alot of history in one spot.
Back in the days of steam locomotives, it is said that town residents knew which engineer was approaching town just by the way an engineer utilized a locomotive steam powered whistle…every engineer had their “own style” of “whistling” upon approach to RR crossings and to different towns across the USA

It should be(and should have been before the asbestos abatement)given to a specialist who will remove it, for FREE.
This engine has NOTHING to do with Sheridan. It spent its life in Chicago, and NEVER came to Sheridan until it was brought here to rot.
It is, and will continue to be a money pit for the taxpayers.
So cut our losses, scrap it, and the money wasting can stop.
