Resident Questions Tax Dollars for Abortions
During the most recent Sheridan County Commission meeting, Sheridan resident John Fafoutakis asked the commission about tax money being given to a local entity and possibly used for abortions.
Fafoutakis said he became concerned after reading a story in a local paper about $25,000 in county funds sent to Reproductive Healthcare Services of the Bighorns.
Commissioner Terry Cram said the entity performs family planning services but to his knowledge no abortions are performed there.
Commissioner Christi Haswell said they do perform other services, but no abortions.
The commission said they would get more information on exactly what services Reproductive Healthcare Services of the Bighorns provides, but to their knowledge, no abortions are performed at the clinic.

So the Commissioner’s did give them money ($25,000.00) but don’t know what they do? Maybe they could give me that, heck they don’t know what i do either………..??

Good question John. The board should also ask them if they send people to Billings for abortions.

They don’t “send people to billings for abortions”. They do however present the FULL range of options for someone who is pregnant. Just as ANY doctor would do and does. They don’t perform abortions, recommend or push anyone in that direction. They give them care, understanding and education. As well as resources for support services in their journey. If anyone is curious please reach out to them before assuming and spreading false information.

Good to have someone worried about what others decide in life. Nosy? Self-righteous? Telling others how to live is a crowded field, but lots of people still applying. If you don’t want an abortion, don’t have one. Best of my knowledge, no one is stopped from breeding should they want to.

yep, got it. I agree. you certainly are entitled to wish your tax dollars to go to things you support. Unfortunately, when government is supposed to consider everyone’s interests and well being, it seems none of us gets our way entirely. (Even though there are some of us who know better than others and thing would be great if we were the emperor). But I support your sentiment.

I’m sure anyone from Reproductive Healthcare of the Bighorn would be HAPPY to come and educate these people on what exactly they do. No it isn’t abortions. But oh yes, they provide vital healthcare services to those who can’t afford it otherwise. Cancer screenings, yearly exams, etc. I really wish people would educate themselves before assuming.

Abortions or not, the point is that the county gave them $25,000, without knowing what way the money would be used. If ANY tax dollars are donated to ANYONE, there should be an audit process showing that the dollars are used for EXACTLY what was agreed upon.

Those MEN who are against abortions should just advocate for universal vasectomies beginning at age 12. They are reversible and would solve the problem of unwanted pregnancy. But see it’s not about unwanted pregnancy but about them controlling women.
They would also be well served to remember that as of today, abortion is a legal medical procedure. And it’s no one’s business what goes on between a doctor and her patient.
I wonder if Mr. Fafoutakis and his supporters just want a government small enough to fit into a uterus.

And young black women worried about whether or not their babies are given life……The only way It isn’t a baby is if you aren’t pregnant. It might be legal in this world, but it isn’t legal in the next world

Many women oppose abortions, oliva, and when I am forced to fund planned parenthood, whether it goes directly for abortions or not, it becomes my business.

There is no Planned Parenthood office in this community Thomas Jones. Where do you get that your tax dollars are going for that? And what do you do that you pay so much in taxes that your little contribution makes up such a big part of the pot?
