Mullen Fire 14% contained

The Mullen Fire started on Sept. 17, 2020, 38 miles west of Laramie, WY. The cause is still under investigation. 

Since that time the Mullen Fire has grown to 151,711 acres and is being battled by 1,104 personnel. As of 6:34 a.m. Oct. 5, the fire is 14% contained. 

According to the InciWeb Incident Overview, The Mullen Fire is burning in the Medicine Bow National Forest, southwest of Centennial, Wyoming. The fire was reported in the Savage Run Wilderness on Thursday, September 17, and spread rapidly in extremely rugged terrain, with dense vegetation and beetle-killed deadfall.

Critical fire weather and strong winds have increased the size of the fire, which continues to burn actively. The firefighting effort continues to prioritize public and firefighter safety, and protection of nearby communities and other values at risk.

Mandatory Evacuations per InciWeb:

  • East of HWY 11 along Sheep Mountain, from Fox Creek Road, North to Hecht Creek
  • Fox Creek Road including areas west of Hwy 11 south of the Middle Fork Canyon

Yankee Road towards Woods Landing, including a few properties on Fox Cabin Trail
