Johnson County Healthcare Center Chief of Staff Dr. Ryan Ludwig, in his report to the hospital board, said things are going well at the center and that although there were some difficulties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, things are starting to return to a more normal situation.

Dr. Ludwig said they are interviewing another provider to help in the clinic and in the emergency room.

The candidate would not be able to start until next year, but he feels she would be an asset to the facility.

Medical students have been away due to the COVID-19 issue but are expected to return to the center in the coming weeks, with changes to how they see patients in the clinic.

Dr. Ludwig was asked about the possibility of an uptick in COVID-19 cases locally because tourist and travel season is now upon us.

He said although there hasn’t been an increase to this point, it is a very real possibility it could happen and that it may be just a matter of time before there is an increase in cases with more people from out of town visiting this summer.
