Sheridan Media reporter Pat Blair looks back in time, over 100 years ago, to the impact of Spanish influenza as reported in the pages of the Sheridan Enterprise in 1918.

Up to noon today, Oct. 15, seven fatalities had been reported in and near Sheridan from Spanish influenza after-effects. Or perhaps, more accurately seven deaths have been reported and confirmed, for numerous rumors have been afloat of people dying who, upon investigation, were found to be still alive.

All of the public services and meetings of St. Peter’s church have been discontinued until further notice on account of the epidemic of influenza.

Mr. Clarence Smith, who has been ill with the Spanish influenza, is not dead, as has been circulated, but is improving as well as can be expected.
