June Fairbank
June Eileen (Dowling) Fairbank, 87, was tiny but mighty. She passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, in Sheridan, WY. Her lifelong struggles made her one tough mama. She was born into abject poverty during the Depression. She married Glenn Dale Fairbank after high school and they quickly had 6 children whom they reared on the family farm. Providing for a family of 8 on Glenn’s teacher’s salary was a challenge.
June graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education from Black Hills State University in Spearfish South Dakota. For many years she served as the mayor’s secretary. She discovered religion late in life and was baptized in the Summit Nazarene Church in her 80s. Her passions included gardening, church, the Oregon coast, and painting.
At last, June is reunited with her husband, Dale, sons David and Jeffrey, and nephew Chris. She is greatly missed by her surviving children, Barbara Bennick (Jim), of Sheridan, Glenn Fairbank (Denise) of Buffalo, Jeri Bagley (Mark) of North Bend, Oregon, and Dan Fairbank of Sheridan.
A service and inurnment next to her husband will be held later this summer.
